Former Gap Designer Launches Own Label
PATRICK ROBINSON, former creative director at Gap, is launching his own label. The designer's new sportswear-inclined line, Paskho, is described as a collection of "cool, sexy urban clothes designed for pursuing your passions".
Robinson is launching the label without any major backing - preferring instead to use kickstarter.com, a website that advertises for funding from interested parties in return for entrepreneurial incentives, through which he's hoping to raise $50,000 (£32,000). The initial drop - slated for July - will include 19 athletic menswear pieces, from cargo shorts and cotton shirts to more technical performance wear.
"I wanted to have a direct connection with the customer. I am only going to show the prototypes, which will only get made if people pre-order them," Robinson told the New York Times. "It's not just what you wear to the gym. The best way to describe it is clothes not just to work out in, but to hang out in."
Robinson was fired from his position as head of design at Gap in 2011, after four years with the company - with poor sales believed to be the deciding factor in his dismissal. The designer has also previously worked at Giorgio Armani and Paco Rabanne.
